Tempt Me Tuesday – Lilith Teaser 2

Wanna participate? Here’s how:

Authors both published and unpublished can share a bit of their WIP, or feature a snippet or "teaser" from one of their published books.
There are no rules as far as how big or little your teaser should be, however, do try to keep them at a reasonable length. People may tune out/lose interest if you post half your book on your blog. Just sayin'.
To participate:

  • Create a new post for your Tempt Me Tuesday entry
  • Post your teaser for the week
This week I will be sharing another teaser from one of my current WIPs, Lilith. Lilith is the sequel to my next release, Ember. Here we have Draven attempting to explain love.

“All you see is this, the plant, the pretty bloom. Except flowers don’t exist in isolation. You need to go further, look deeper. This is only a tiny part of the plant.” He reached into the soil and scooped a handful before letting it slip through his fingers again. “Love is just like the flower, it has hidden depths that we rarely ever see. Beneath the surface lies a network of roots. You can admire the flower for what it is, or you can dig deeper. The more you dig, the more you will find. The real reasons we love a person sometimes exist in the darkest and deepest part of us, the part that knows no logic… or rationale.”

Last week I gave you a snippet of Shades of Avalon. This week it’s the turn of my other WIP, Lilith. This is the sequel to Ember. Ember will be released later this year.
In order to keep from giving too much away I won’t be naming this male character.

She healed him in ways he was completely incapable of expressing. He was trying, but he had buried his emotions so long and so deeply. He wasn’t entirely sure he could make her understand the sheer violence of his love. It ripped through him every second of every day and night, crawling under his flesh and plucking at his nerves as if he was merely an instrument being played for her amusement. He would die for her in less than a heartbeat and it was becoming increasingly likely.

Now it’s your turn.

Voila!

My teaser is from from one of my current WIPs. It's the sequel to Shades of Atlantis, tentatively titled, Shades of Avalon.

Ben POV:

“When the flow of destiny is interrupted, it creates a new path. Fate does not tolerate her plans being altered.
“So you are saying that mark means John is a new path or a variable in fate’s plan?” I asked dubiously.
Gwenivere stood and bent at the waist to brush grass from her jeans. Her long braid swung down between us and obscured her face partially.
“I’m saying if Triona had destroyed Zeal, Caleb would still be here. Every choice we make has a consequence. Even the smallest mercy can be a tiny ripple that grows to a massive tidal wave. When Triona made that choice, fate led her back to John and made damn sure he could protect her if Caleb could not. Every queen needs her champion.”
