NaNoWriMo and living with Vampires

November 1st is just around the corner and writers around the globe are getting ready to write their socks off for NaNoWriMo. I can't wait to start.

As allowed in the rules I have been researching and outlining for the last week. Up to then I was actually planning on a totally different story.

I will spend this November writing Vampires.

I've always stayed well clear of Vampires in the past although I have lived shouting distance most of my life from the house where this man was born.

He is famously known for writing this.

As well as living in the same area, we share the same occupation, both being civil servants and writers.

My family have a long history in the area, my mother was raised here. One of my earliest memories is my brother telling me Dracula lived across the street. Who can blame me for believing him when we have very beautiful but, to a four year old, very scary surroundings like this.

Not forgetting Bram Stoker Park.

We even have

Bram's Cafe, by the way, have kept me fed over the last year or so while I've either been unwell of in the middle of a writing frenzy. I'm sure the lovely staff, who provide me with take-out on a regular basis, are convinced I don't know how to turn the oven on.

So, as you can see my surroundings are both inspiring and intimidating when it comes to the idea of Vampires. However, I have recently been listening to one of the voices in my head(Yes, I have them, don't all writers?). His name is Henry Clayton, for now he goes by the name Clay Black and he is a Vampire.

My working title is The Black Pool. Dublin in Irish is known as Baile Átha Cliath. Dublin, our English name is taken from Dubh Linn. Dubh Linn is Irish for Black Pool.

Here is my summary as posted on the NaNo site:

Vampire, Clay Black was born in 1849, Dublin. After 140 years of surviving on the blood of humans he has followed a trail of death home in the hope of finding the one who changed him and destroying her.
Instead he discovers Alegra, a young woman who may hold the key to lifting his curse, but he's not the only one after her.
The death count in Dublin is rising and when Alegra discovers Clay feeding she is caught up in his fight to stop the vampires intent on raising Abhartach, the first vampire.

Here is my playlist for writing(I will probably add more as the month goes on).

My first book, Shades of Atlantis will be released during NaNo, so November looks set to be a busy month for me.
